Fanicio refund in Famous Roman Hcp

Bunbury breeders Dan and Julie Love won the race they sponsored at Belmont on Saturday when Fanicio claimed the Famous Roman @ Rivercrest Hcp (1600m).

Fanicio (4g Benicio – Lasting Faith by Humam) has finished in the first two in all four starts this campaign. “He’s come back like a real professional and had been working well,” trainer Simon Foster said. “We were pretty confident today.”

Foster said they could head up to the Goldfields for the $100,000 Coolgardie Cup (1600m) on September 1.

The Loves stand Famous Roman at Rivercrest Park in Stratham. He’s based at Steve Hoare’s south-west stud alongside Black Tom (Langfuhr), Izmir (Red Ransom) and Kendel Star (Kenmare).

Famous Roman (Danetime) paraded at Belmont on Saturday and was back on show at the Perth Magic Millions Winter Sale on Sunday. He won 7 races including a G2 Lee-Steere Stakes and G3 R J Peters Stakes and, in the latter, he broke the long-standing State record for 1500 metres clocking 1.26.39s.

His first crop will be catalogued for the 2014 Perth Magic Millions yearling sale.

Later on Saturday, the Love’s promising galloper Hans Up lost his unbeaten record at Belmont. The Hurricane Sky gelding was gunning for six from six since January but reared at the start and was never a chance in the race won by Dueton.
