Ducimus has achieved a near flawless fertility rating in his first book and that news coincided with recent feature doubles at Randwick and Flemington for his sire Snitzel.
Rivercrest Park owner Steve Hoare reports Ducimus has stopped all bar one or two mares in a book that numbered upwards of 60 covers as of last week.
The latest PPT is Gervase Park mare Portrait (Octagonal). She is the dam of G2 MVRC Bill Stutt Stakes winner Leonardo Da Hinchi who is back in Perth ready to continue his career with trainer Trevor Andrews.
Danpegi (Fusaichi Pegasus) is also positive to Ducimus. She was a Rosehill winner for John Hawkes and has foaled four winners including LR Jungle Dawn Classic winner Rose Of Choice (Choisir).
There was another expensive update to the pedigree earlier this year when the I Am Invincible – Rose Of Choice filly sold to Yulong Investments for $1 million at the Gold Coast Magic Millions.
Ducimus was the 50th stakes winner by Snitzel when he claimed the 2017 Talindert Stakes at Flemington and Australia’s two-time champion sire is edging ever closer to 100 stakes winners after recent feature doubles at Randwick and Flemington.
Snitzel’s Group 1 sprinter Redzel won the first two editions of the $14 million The Everest at Randwick and he doubled up at this year’s meeting with Time Is Precious (Victory Vein Stakes) and Akari (LR Reginald Allen Quality).
Time Is Precious scored a front-running victory on debut for trainer Gerald Ryan who guided Snitzel to a Group 1 triumph in the Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield. “When she jumped to the lead and had a couple of easy sectionals, I thought she would be very hard to run down,” Ryan said. “She is a filly, on type and on pedigree, who will get better over 1400 metres.”

Akari is also living up to her pedigree with black-type victories on The Everest card and in the LR Desirable Stakes (1400m) at Flemington.
Starting from the outside alley on Melbourne Cup Day, Akari raced without cover and was bumped off stride when making a run in the straight before producing a remarkable sprint to collar the favourite Betcha Flying right on the post.
“Akari is a very good filly and a pleasure to have in the stable,” trainer Brad Widdup said. “She does everything right and has never been out of a place in six starts.”
Sure Knee completed a Snitzel double on Cup Day for trainer Chris Waller and the Ingham family. She carried their all-cerise colours made famous by champions including Octagonal and Lonhro.
“Kerrin (McEvoy) didn’t panic and allowed Sure Knee plenty of time to find her feet,” Waller said. “She travelled keenly and once in clear air, she quickened up in impressive fashion to score with her ears pricked.”
