Perth caller Darren McAullay got it right when he claimed He Or She would need to levitate to win the Budget Hcp (1200m) at Ascot on Saturday.
He Or She was last on the fence turning for home but sprouted wings in the straight to score by a length running away. “I was doing a bit of levitating myself in the grandstand,” trainer Vaughn Sigley admitted. “He’s just doing it on raw ability at the moment.”
The sky’s the limit for He Or She. A son of Rivercrest Park stallion Kendel Star, he looked a class act at Ascot and had been just as impressive winning on debut at Bunbury on February 20.
“The Kendel Stars are speed horses but he races like he will get over ground,” Sigley said. “He can switch off and then sprint home. We will see how he pulls up before making any plans.”
He Or She (3g Kendel Star – Danessa by West Point) is raced by Sigley in partnership with Sunspeed breeder Alan Macalister. They also won the 2010 Pinjarra Cup with his close relation Simply Adorable (Blackfriars).
Sigley’s biggest win to date as a trainer was with Rohan (Blackfriars) in the 2012 WATC Derby.
At last month’s Perth Magic Millions, Kendel Star had a colt (ex Belle Heed by Serheed) sell for $65,000 and a filly (ex Even You Too by Tribu) sell for $50,000. The colt is a brother to multiple stakes winning mare Mabel Grace and the filly is a three-quarter sister to stakes winners Ken’s Double & Even Astar.
